All Saturday mornings from 8 a.m. to 13 p.m., Thônes welcomes the market in the city center. Find local producers: fruits, vegetables, cheeses and cold meats from the valley… but also honey, herbal teas, traditional bread, doughnuts or even Biscantin… All the flavors of the region are there! You will also find stands with everything you need for the home, leisure, clothing… A colorful stroll through the lively streets of the city!

Spring Fair and Saint-Maurice Fair

Thônes organizes 2 large fairs: la Spring Fair a Saturday in April and the Saint-Maurice Fair, the last Saturday of September.

Two highlights which bring together numerous exhibitors of local products but also from elsewhere, rides, a garage sale... If the Spring Fair has numerous stands dedicated to the environment, the Saint-Maurice Fair, for its part, is the main agricultural fair of the canton. More than 700 years old, it brings together farmers with Abondance cow competitions and parades, cheese and honey competitions… Lively moments where all generations come together in a festive and very friendly atmosphere.

Christmas in Thônes

The Christmas spirit settles in the streets of Thônes in December. The streets light up and warm up with the festive atmosphere. Come and drink a good mulled wine and taste the flavors of the country while strolling among the stands of local creators and producers.

Weekly markets in stations

The markets are the ideal opportunity to discover the villages of the Aravis in a colorful and lively atmosphere conducive to exchange with local producers. An opportunity to discover crafts and taste the many local products : cheeses, cold meats, honey, liqueur, potato fritters… so head to:

  • La Clusaz : all year round, Monday mornings from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.
  • Le grand-bornand : all year round, Wednesday mornings from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. During the summer, a market is held in Chinaillon every Sunday morning.
  • Saint-Jean-de-Sixt : in July-August only, Sunday mornings from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.
  • Manigod : in July-August only, Tuesday mornings from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.

The festive markets

The strong traditions relating to the agro-pastoral activity of the Aravis resorts are found during the numerous fairs organized each year in the fall. The opportunity to discover the heritage of our mountains, to meet breeders and livestock where cows but also goats and sheep are in the spotlight, to exchange and share moments of great conviviality while tasting local specialties.   • Le grand-bornand : Saint-Maurice fair, Sunday in September
  • La Clusaz : Cross fair, Sunday in September
  • Manigod : fall agricultural fair, Saturday in October

The markets of the Sources du Lac

Weekly markets

A market regular food and clothing with seasonal flowers and plants for the garden, takes place every Wednesday morning in Faverges-Seythenex from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Discover the Rue de la République, animated by the many colorful stands filled with the delicious scents of regional products. 

A producers' market takes place every Friday from 16pm to 20pm under the Halle in Faverges-Seythenex as well. You will find Savoyard artisans and producers there for friendly exchanges to discover their specialties. Gastronomy is in the spotlight with many local productions : cheeses, charcuterie, fish from the lake, fruits and vegetables, honey, liqueurs, snails… In July-August, local artisans exhibit their works on the market. A beautiful local market to discover!

A summer market

And during the summer season, from June to early September, a food and clothing market is set up on rue Macherine in Doussard every Monday from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. You will of course find something to fill your baskets with good local products!

Weekly markets

In Annecy, the old town hosts the market on Tuesday, Friday and Sunday mornings from 7am to 13pm. Producers set up their stalls under the arcades of Rue Sainte Claire. A typical market in the small cobbled streets of the old town where you will find all the products and specialties of the region. On Fridays and Sundays, textile and manufactured products complete the market.

On Saturday mornings, the market is located on Boulevard Taine from 7 a.m. to 13 p.m. with many local producers and products including food, textiles and household items.

Descent from the Alps

Every year, the streets of Annecy come alive on the second Saturday in October with the descent from the mountain pastures which marks the end of the summer pasturesHerds invade the streets, folk groups parade, artisans present their work, old trades are brought back into the spotlight and of course the region's producers are there to help you discover all the traditional Savoyard specialties. An authentic and friendly moment!

Saint Andrew's Fair

Every first Tuesday in December for over 5 centuries, the traditional Saint Andrew's fair has taken over the streets of Annecy. Nearly 1100 traders on 5,5 km of stalls attract tens of thousands of visitors. In the Middle Ages, producers and mountain dwellers came to sell and buy provisions and utensils to get through the winter. Today, things have changed but the tradition remains... And many shoppers come to wander the streets of the town to discover local specialties, clothing, crafts, furniture, trinkets and other gadgets. An opportunity to get a good deal!

Christmas Market and Alpine Village

From late November to early January, the Village des Alpes is settling in the heart of the city of Annecy in front of the Courier shopping center. Find theatmosphere of a small Savoyard village with its many chalets serving regional specialties in an atmosphere authentic and friendly. An ice rink, entertainment and themed evenings with groups and DJs bring together tourists and Annecy residents for much-appreciated festive moments. 

At the same time, Old Annecy sees its streets bustling with numerous small chalets welcoming local and national artisans who will show you their creations. Enjoy the magic of illuminations to stroll through the typical streets of the city and do your Christmas shopping.
