The village of Saint-Jean-de-Sixt , comprised of several hamlets and whose mountain pass reaches an altitude of 960 meters , occupies a privileged position between Thônes and the resorts of Le Grand-Bornand and La Clusaz . A rich heritage
You can discover the old farms and chapels that dot the village and the history of Pierre Favre who was canonized by the current Pope on December 17, 2013. Set off on the paths, towards the site of the 3 bridges or towards the stream from which the millstones or scyts (split stones) were extracted and which gave their name to the commune.
Among the old farms of the village, two of them designed by the architect Jean-Marie Favre-Lorraine known as Guinguet and located in the hamlet of Lombardes, deserve a special detour for their exceptional and avant-garde architecture. Two jewels to admire without moderation!

The natural heritage of Saint-Jean-de-Sixt offers some beautiful walks.
Hiking
Starting from the village centre, the Nom circuit takes you on a loop around the river of the same name! A short, refreshing route of 2,2 km and 70 m of elevation gain.
The Crêt Brûlé circuit (2,6 km and 180 m elevation gain) starting from the Crêt Saint Jean parking area takes you through the woods to a panoramic viewpoint overlooking the Aravis mountain range, the Bargy, and the Tournette massif. The trail can be extended to other destinations such as Mont Lachat.
Leaving the village towards La Clusaz , you can park at the Le Danay d'en Haut car park and hike up towards the Tête du Danay . There you'll reach the summit cross and three orientation tables that reveal all the secrets of the 360° panorama . This 2,9 km round trip with 175 m of elevation gain will take just over an hour. You can take the opportunity to stop at the Refuge du Danay to enjoy traditional Savoyard dishes (reservations required) in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, or have a drink while admiring the Aravis mountain range.

Road bike
Saint-Jean-de-Sixt lies on the Route des Grandes Alpes and its legendary mountain passes. Whether you're heading towards the Col de la Colombière , the Aravis range , or the Col de la Croix-Fry , you'll inevitably pass through Saint-Jean-de-Sixt, as the Tour de France has done on numerous occasions. You can also head downhill and cycle towards Lake Annecy . A wide variety of routes of varying lengths and elevation gains await you.
Moutain Bike
Several routes are available for mountain biking and e-mountain biking (electric-assist), including the Bois de l'Envers circuit starting from Les Lombardes, or the new circuit that loops around the Danay from the Danay d'en Haut parking area. The Grand-Bornand and La Clusaz ski areas are also nearby, offering a total of 200 km of marked and maintained trails in the Aravis region.

Pedestrian and snowshoe trails
Three snowshoe trails lead you along 18,5 km of tracks, 3,5 km of which are also accessible to pedestrians. Come and breathe in the fresh air and admire the resort's scenery!
If you want more, you can escape to the 150 km of trails marked out in the Aravis sector.
