As the start of the school year and autumn approach, nature transforms. The mountain peaks are bathed in golden hues, the pace slows, and the fresh mountain air beckons. It's the perfect time to treat yourself to a rejuvenating break away from the crowds. Whether you're seeking to disconnect at altitude, enjoy a gourmet experience, or take peaceful walks, our region has everything to charm you.

Walking the trails without the crowds

When Indian summer settles in the mountains, conditions become ideal for hiking. From the Parmelan ridges to the Glières plateau, passing through the Beauregard plateau, put on your hiking boots and head out to breathe in the fresh air. The autumn light beautifully enhances the landscape and the spruce and deciduous forests.

  • Our tip: Enjoy the tranquility of the trails to observe the wildlife and admire the unobstructed panoramas of the Aravis mountain range.

Taking a break

The return to work/school is often intense: give yourself some time. After a nice hike in the mountains, explore the town centre of Thônes and pop into the local shops.

Explore the forests ablaze with color

Yellow, ochre, red… The forests of the Thônes valleys reveal themselves in all their splendor. Stroll through the Mont forest or around the villages of the Val Sulens (Les Clefs, Serraval, Le Bouchet-Mont-Charvin). It's the ideal season for family walks, mountain biking, or mushroom picking along the way (making sure you know the species!).

Admire the sunset from the mountain peaks

In autumn, the evening light offers striking spectacles on the landscape. The mountains take on pink and orange hues.

  • Some hiking ideas to admire the sunset: From Sulens, Croix de Colomban, and Lanfonnet (with views of Lake Annecy), you can see La Tournette or the Aravis mountain range bathed in beautiful colors. Get your cameras ready!

Enjoying a farm-made Reblochon cheese by the fireside

After a day outdoors, it's time to relax. In the capital of Reblochon cheese, autumn is the perfect time to step into one of our region's restaurants. Tartiflette, Savoyard fondue, or Reblochonnade: our restaurateurs and local producers welcome you to take your taste buds on a journey.

Whether it's for a long weekend or a week of disconnecting, our accommodations welcome you.
