A fabulous journey through time and the history of Thônes to discover with family, alone, in a group or with friends! It is about geology, local fauna, prehistory, history, popular arts and traditions and religious arts.
Municipal Museum: A journey through local history and heritage. Its rich collections also make it a French museum. Personalized welcome, self-guided or guided tours, and regularly scheduled fun and interactive activities for younger visitors.
Located in the heart of the small town of Thônes in a historic building, this museum unfolds across three levels. Here you will discover the entire history of the Thônes region, from its origins (geology, prehistory) through its local history, as well as broader historical events, from the Geneva region to Savoy and France.
Created in 1937 by François Cochat who contributed a large and rich collection, it is also a journey into the daily life of the people of Thônes in the past, crafts, old trades and old factories, Firefighters' Festival, religion, cheese making, paintings...
